Gabriel A. Barraza is an associate at Cole, Scott, & Kissane, P.A.’s Fort Lauderdale East office, where he primarily focuses on first-party property insurance defense, premises liability, and general liability. Mr. Barraza was raised in South Florida and graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Later, he attended the University of Miami School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. While in law school, he gained valuable experience as a legal intern for a boutique law firm, where he conducted research for an employment dispute matter. He also was a clerk for a first-party property plaintiffs firm for a significant portion of his law school tenure. During this time, he largely dealt with prelitigation matters, communicated with Spanish-speaking clients and insurance companies to facilitate settlement negotiations, drafted dispositive motions and assisted in preparing clients for their Examination Under Oath. Through this experience, Mr. Barraza gained a thorough understanding of how insurance companies and policyholders approach claims disputes. Mr. Barraza is fluent in Spanish. He is a member of the Florida Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, Trial Lawyers Section, and Environmental & Land Use Law Section.
